Tuesday 12th May 2015:  CHARITY EVENING and Members’ Plant Sale and
Wildlife Gardening Myths and Realities – Dr Stephen Head
Entrance fee for this event will be £3.00, raising money for this year’s charity, the National Wildlife Gardening Forum.
Steve has a PhD in coral reef ecology and has had a lecturing career in Britain and overseas, on zoology, ecology and marine science. He is now a professional conservationist and keen gardener, with a special interest in wildlife gardening. Thus he became the co-ordinator for the Wildlife Gardening Forum Charity. His team won the Gold and Best in Show with a Chelsea show garden in 2010. You may have seen him on TV with Monty Don, Sarah Raven or in the “Great British Garden Revival” series. Tonight’s talk is an entertaining and somewhat surprising introduction to the importance of welcoming wildlife into your garden. There is far more wildlife in gardens, which are among the richest places for nature in Britain, than most people realise. There are also several misconceptions and myths circulating, and his talk should help to set our minds at rest.
The talk will take place in the New Windmill Hall, St Mary’s lane, Upminster
from 7.45 p.m. to 9.45 p.m., doors open at 7.15 p.m.For further information on Upminster Horticultural Society see our website:
