Upminster Rugby Club

Ok guys and gals, just over a year ago my Aunt Betty passed away, she had a brave battle with MND,this is a shocking illness to see the way the muscles and nervous system, shuts down.
There is no cure, but there like a lot of things there is hope.
I have seen a lot of people doing the ice bucket challenge to raise money and awareness. So this Wednesday at Touch rugby I am going to do the challenge, anyone else want to join me and help raise Money for charity, then turn up at Upminster Rugby Club,Hall Lane Playing fields, from 7pm.
The rules are quite simple you can either Text ICED55 £5 (or other amount) to 70070 uk only
Or we will have a collection bucket and put £5.00(or more) into on it on the night, it would be great to get as many people doing this as possible and making one of the biggest Ice bucket challenges so far,
This is open to all friends family, players and members of URFC, and anyone in the local community that may want to help with this challenge. If want to join in, the please post a comment, and yes so we can get lots of buckets, wheelie bins and icebergs in preparation.
We are a great family and community club and I could do with your help and support for this great campaign, please share, like, comment, turn up,donate, and get wet,
The Ice Bucket Challenge is a viral campaign where participants are challenged to throw a bucket of ice water over their heads before passing the challenge on to 3 other people who must accept the challenge within 24 hours. You can avoid this by donating to the charity instead. Or better yet, do both!

Grab a bucket of ice-cold water and pour it over your head in exchange for a text donation to the MND Association. Film it and then share it via your social media using #icebucketchallenge and #MND.

You need:

A bucket

A camera / smartphone

A towel

A change of clothes – highly recommended!

Why the Ice Bucket Challenge is so important

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord.

There is no cure but the MND Assocation funds and promotes research that leads to new understanding and treatments, and brings us closer to a cure for MND. We also provide services to support people living with, or affected by, MND.

The MND Association is the only national charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland focused on MND care, research and campaigning.

We fund the ‘coolest’ MND research. Read the latest blog from our research team

MND and ALS are different descriptions of the same disease

ALS stands for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis which is the most common type of motor neurone disease. In the UK we use the term MND and in the USA they use ALS.
