New solar park in Upminster could power 5,000 homes

Solar Panels

A new solar park with the capacity to power almost 5,000 homes for a year could be created in Upminster.

Plans have been submitted for panels to be installed on land adjacent to Clay Tye Farm which could produce 15.93 Megawatt peak (MWp) of renewable energy.

Developers Green Switch Developments are behind the application, and if successful, the park would create enough energy to power 4,779 “average-sized” homes for a year, reducing 7,695 tonnes of carbon.
